To say that Hayes and Mullally stole the show from the titular leads is the sort of understatement that would be alien to either Jack or Karen. The laughs he got, rolling laughs that would go on for a minute, and I thought this show is going to be a hit if for no other reason than this guy. Hayes is equally effusive about Mullally, a former dancer who back in was the most experienced sitcom actor of the quartet, having appeared in Seinfeld , Frasier and Mad about You, and who was initially reluctant to take the role of wisecracking, martini-quaffing Karen — deeming her too similar to a character in the popular Cybill Shepherd comedy Cybill. People fear that which is different. But if America is a more tolerant nation now, large parts of the rest of the world have yet to catch up. In the minute special, Karen, an avid Donald Trump supporter, tries to persuade Jack to vote Republican, while Will and Grace, both Clinton supporters, try to persuade him to vote Democrat.

Will and Grace Star Confirms He’s Gay
He is also close friends with Grace and Karen. He is a struggling actor who jumps from work to work. Jack mentions that he was born via Caesarean section thereby considers himself "platinum gay" or a gay man who has never been in contact with a vagina. Jack recalls that his father was discouraging and cruel to him growing up gay. Daniel once gave Jack a ball for his birthday, which he put under his shirt and told everyone he was pregnant with George Michael's baby.
That's because McCormack is straight, and in this era of diversity and authenticity in casting it would be a bold, perhaps even foolish, decision to cast anyone but a gay actor in a series that puts the character's sexuality front and centre. Though he'd be out of a job in this hypothetical scenario, the first "gay" man many middle Americans welcomed into their homes is OK with that. But, he notes, it does raise a rather tricky question.
